Where Have I Been?

Lots has happened since last you tuned in to This Modern Swerdloff, hasn't it. Last time I was posting I was in New York City trying to build my own practice. I'm still doing that. But I'm also in Connecticut three to four days a week working in my parents lawfirm, getting experience, showing up in court, doing the whole lawyer thing. God. So MUCH has happened in my life since last I wrote that I'm only going to hit the highlights.

Made a bunch of new friends. Notably, have started spending time with Bertie and Marissa and working for CrossPathCulture as a volunteer.

I've been to a few Conquistador shows where, true to form, they have rokked the face off of the crowd, as everyone knows that they do. I sometimes wish that I could be a member of the band, just to get some of the wild adoration that I see in the audience every time I show up at their shows.

Dori has been a pretty constant source of strength from her stall on Broadway, always there to see when I was feeling aimless and always there with someone new to meet. In a city where Garbo said "it's the only place I can be alone" sometimes being surrounded by six million other people isn't enough. Sometimes you actually want to meet some of them. Thanks to her, I've been introduced to Blackcat, the Madagascar Institute, and a large number of stunning and talented people, including Bethany.

A lot of other stuff happened, I'm sure. I'm having trouble guaging it all and writing it all down.

I've taken to saluting firefighters, shaking the hands of my neighborhood cops, and generally doing what I can to keep a good disposition in the face of my very intense fear of both the present situation and what it means for the future.

I befriended Andrew, whom I started to get to know, just as he decided to leave New York and move to San Francisco. Just my luck.

There were other highlights... Bellvue with Brian, the Honeycomb party at Parlay, and the fact that Ethan, after all this freakin' time, is back again. Of course, my working many days a week in Connecticut has made him difficult quarry to find, but I'm working on it.

And now: two pictures.

David Griffin and I encountered these two storm troopers on the street. I thought it was noteworthy because, frankly, I've never seen storm troopers on the street before.

Swerdloff in a Mask
Who was that masked man?

Did you miss me?
