I'm looking for people that I used to know...
I had lunch with Ethan Shapiro the other day, a friend from my days at Camp Manitou. He's doing remarkably well, he's working for the same company Sacha Goodson works for, which is pretty incredible to me, since I stopped all camp contact awhile back. I even spoke to his brother Lael on the phone.
He and I got to talking about people we'd lost track of in our lives, since those days.
Personally, I've lost track of almost everyone I've ever known. Jeff Noller pops up sporadically, and Ari Fontecchio is in New York, and I randomly seem to see him on the street.
Other than that - I've lost track of so many people it's silly. So many. So many friends, once the context changed, disappeared.
On Friendster I found my friend Larry, and Ethan found me. I found some friends from college, but nobody I'd really lost track of.
Here's a partial list of people I haven't seen or heard from in a long time. If you are one of these people, or know them, email me, I'd love to know how you've been. This is in no way exclusive. Seriously. These are just the people I found letters from. There's tons more of you, and I know some of you are looking for me, I see the Google referers looking for "Jonathan Swerdloff..."
From Manitou - pretty much everyone I met there. I know how my bunkmates are doing - they bought the damn camp.
Mike Hall springs to mind, from many years ago, as do Max Brockman, Mike King, John F. Kennedy, Jon Marcus, Andy Arenson, everyone on the foreign staff...
From High School - Gina (formerly Maxwell) and Phil Gilman and Kristen Sullivan and Dan Broderick and that whole crew. Blair Kenyon - I know you're out there reading this - you can pipe in too. Even if it's to make some snide comment like you normally do. Sy Singletary. Frank the Track coach.
From Law School - Dan Rosen.
From Boston - Alison MacNeil, who once emailed me, and then disappeared again.
From former jobs - Gregory Tulumbas.
From Italy - Lizzie Firzuk, Tomas Kokalis, and Erin Kacenga. Anyone else who was there, at American University of Rome in the fall of 1995.
From my years in Maine - Sarah Soule.
Jinnah Hossein.
[This is what happens when you clean out your apartment... you find old letters from friends, and notes to self, and wonder how they've been and what they're up to...]
I'm looking for all of you and more. I'll add to this list as I think of other people's names. If you are one of these people, or you're an old friend who is lurking, let me know you're out there, I want to know what you're up to. Reconnecting with old friends is one of my New Year's resolutions.
