Brunch
Went to J and R today, first thing in the morning. I'm in the market for a pair of noise canceling headphones.
The Bose™ ones aren't sold in stores, apparently, rather they're $300 and only available from the company. How much of that is paying for their trademark and how much of it is because they're really freakin' awesome? Anyone who's heard them/has them and wants to give me a heads up, please let me know.
I met Brian there, who was down buying software to fix his semi-busted Mac. We'd planned to go to J and R and go for some brunch. N/R from J and R up to Prince street, where we walked through NoLiTa, noticed tons of places full of hungover and bleary eyed twentysomethings, and kept walking to the LES. We ended up at Cafe Charbon, scene of an infamous videotaped session between the two of us and Sugarbaker a year or so earlier. We even had the same table.
We talked about the fact that we don't have enough time to do all the things we want, and can't find enough to do everything. It's enough to make me consider leaving New York. Not seriously consider it, mind you, since I still like it here. But certainly to vow to take more time both to myself, and to travel more extensively.
I've been using
iChatStatus for a few weeks now. It can be pretty odd, when friends notice you're listening to something they like, like Antibalas, or something embarrassing, like Moby. And then your friends send you a random instant message saying "Wow. Moby, huh?" And you wonder (well, if you're me, you wonder) if maybe we're just sharing a bit too much information with the world these days.
