I missed last nights show. I'm sorry guys. I was so exhausted for reasons that I'll explain now, that I went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 9am. And it's a good thing I did, too.
So what all happened this weekend? Well, Friday is already accounted for. I had a great time, meeting guys like Cephus, Kevin and Kevin, and starting up my new A Capella Techno group in a cab. Met Artie Lange, Kamal from the Jerky Boys, and if you care, you can go read about it on that day by clicking that Friday up there.
Saturday was an R&R day, woke up late, met with a client at 2, stayed with him and reviewed actors for his film, ended up home at 6, in time for Michelle and Dakota to descend on my house, and I got a very nice little visit with them. We ordered Chinese food, and Michelle was very sweet and Dakota was very spazzy, and then Ethan came over, and I was totally exhausted and, well, they went to the El Conquistadors show and I went to bed. Proof I'm getting old, maybe.
Then today.
Well, today was a doozy. For months now, I've been trying to get my girlfriends to come to my house, review my wardrobe and in exchange, I'd put on a fashion show. So Bethany, Morgan, Dakota and Christine came over, Ken video taped it (footage hopefully to be viewed at sometime in the near future) and Maria, who was supposed to come, punked out.
Imagine having four beautiful women critique every thing you've ever bought to wear for the last six to eight years. It wasn't pretty. I've now got two piles of "to get rid of" clothing, each about four by three by three. The photos below pretty much tell the tale. It's pretty damn amazing what you can get beautiful women to do by asking. Heckling me seems to be high on their priority list.
Either that, or my friends are really good to me and are sad seeing me in so many pleated pants. Which also might have had something to do with it.
I hope the audio on the tape comes out, Dakota was downright honest (*cough* brutal *cough*) about what she saw me in, and I asked for it, literally asked for it, so I have no real complaints. With luck, we'll get a 7 minute documentary together.
After that whole mess was over, Dakota got a call from Michelle and we all headed to Thompkins park, where we proceeded to lose Dakota. There was a big outdoor rave-y type event, but I wasn't feeling the love, and something was in the air and everyone was like two degrees away from being as attractive as I wanted them to be, so I left before too long.
Ken and I hopped a cab over to a party on Central Park West for CrossPathCulture, where I met some of the board, some of the artists, and just about everyone involved. If you ever have a chance to see the city of New York from that height along the park, go. Just go. Especially on a nice day.
The music and the event were both very good, I bumped into Ari at the door as I was walking in. Had a nice conversation with her, although I always get nervous when I walk into a room and haven't had a chance to get the lay of the land yet. I probably made a big ass out of myself, but this wouldn't be anything new.
I wish I remembered to write down the names of the artists, or that someone who was there would email me their names. They were all good, and I'd love to give credit where it's due.
I got a chance to talk at length with David Griffin, something I've been meaning to do for awhile. I also met Ken's coworker
Sommer at the show, and enjoyed talking to her. With luck, she'll be at the next CPC event.
Afterwards, it was down to Chelsea for Soprano's night. Two disappointing episodes in a row, people. Every time I try to get into it, the keep throwing me back out. What's this shit? You may not have seen the episode yet, so I'll keep it to myself, but the ending, well, I just found it stupid. I got the joke, but hey, fuck you. This was cutting edge television and now the edge it's cutting is right to mediocrity. It's verging on Sitcom. Now, the producers may be doing this because "They need some light episodes before the heavy last three of the season" to which I say "fuck you. if I wanted light episodes, I'd watch Frasier or some other smarmy network pap." God damn. I was hoping for a return to the greatness of the first four of this season, but no, we get a fat guy playing santa. The highlight of the night was seeing that Jeffery Wernick dot com get plugged. Go Jami!
So I stop my goddamned whining, I leave you with these pictures, and a question.
